J-Integra® Product Installation Instructions

The following information contains the basic installation instructions for the J-Integra® for Exchange product.

1. Make Sure You Have a Java Development Kit (JDK) Installed

If you do not have a JDK already installed, you can get one from Sun's website.

2. Download the J-Integra® Product SDK

* Download the EXE installer for Windows platforms.
* Download the ZIP format for Non-Windows platforms.

3. Install the J-Integra® Product SDK

• J-Integra® for Exchange has the following default directory structure:

  ZIP Format for Non-Windows OS	EXE Format for Windows
  jintegra	c:\Program Files\J-Integra\exchange
  jintegra\bin	c:\Program Files\J-Integra\exchange\bin
  jintegra\lib	c:\Program Files\J-Integra\exchange\lib
  etc...	etc...

4. Setup Your Environment Variables

Windows Platforms

The following environment variables must be set in your system settings (click Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment Variables). You can also set these at a command prompt or in a batch file. The Windows installer automatically sets these environment variables for you in system settings.

set JAVA_HOME=c:\j2sdk1.4.2_01 set JINTEGRA_HOME=c:\jintegra set PATH=%PATH%;%JAVA_HOME%\bin;%JAVA_HOME%\jre\bin;%JINTEGRA_HOME%\bin set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;.;%JINTEGRA_HOME%\lib\jintegra.jar

Other Platforms

You only need to update the CLASSPATH to include the jintegra.jar file on non-Windows platforms. Setting the PATH variable is not required since the 'bin' directory only contains tools and DLLs that run on Windows. Please consult your OS documentation for instructions on setting the CLASSPATH on non-Windows platforms.

NOTES:

1. Remember to include the ( . ) character, which represents the current directory, in the PATH and CLASSPATH.
2. Remember to include %JAVA_HOME%\jre\bin in the PATH, otherwise you will get an exception when trying to embed graphical COM components in Java frames!
3. Deploying Your J-Integra® Application contains information on what files are needed for deployment in client/server production systems.
4. Supported JDKs and Platforms shows all environments supported by J-Integra®.

5. Install the J-Integra® Product License

When you download the SDK, an email will be automatically sent to you with a license file attached (jintegra.xml). To install the license, follow these steps:

1. Save the jintegra.xml license file to your %JINTEGRA_HOME%\lib directory.
2. Execute the file %JINTEGRA_HOME%\bin\install_license.bat.

Alternatively, you can manually install the license by doing the following:

1. Save the jintegra.xml license file to your %JINTEGRA_HOME%\lib directory.
2. Open a command prompt and cd to the %JINTEGRA_HOME%\lib directory.
3. Enter the following 3 commands in the order given:
   java -cp jintegra.jar com.intrinsyc.license.JintegraLicenseTool clean
   java -cp jintegra.jar com.intrinsyc.license.JintegraLicenseTool install
   java -cp jintegra.jar com.intrinsyc.license.JintegraLicenseTool view
   

If you get a License file not found error after installing the license, you probably have an invalid character in your license file (see the Knowledge Base for more information). Please email support and they will send you a new evaluation license.

6. J-Integra® Product Upgrade Instructions

To upgrade your J-Integra® product to a newer version, all you have to do is replace the contents of your %JINTEGRA_HOME% directory with the contents of the new J-Integra® product SDK. We recommend the following steps:

1. Make a backup copy of your current %JINTEGRA_HOME% directory.
2. If you used the Windows installer to install your J-Integra® product, uninstall it using Add or Remove Programs.
3. Extract the contents of the new J-Integra® product SDK into your %JINTEGRA_HOME% directory.

Typically, it is not necessary to regenerate the Java proxy files after upgrading. However, if you experience problems try regenerating the proxies and see if that helps.
