How to Unregister CDOHOST.EXE

cdohost.exe is a tool we include as part of our J-Integra for Exchange product. It is an ActiveX EXE built in Visual Basic. More details of cdohost.exe can be found in the documentation.

Note that this article can also apply to all Visual Basic ActiveX EXE's. To completely remove cdohost.exe from your system:

  1. Make sure that there are no running instances cdohost.exe. Launch the Task Manager and confirm this by looking under the Processes tab, and killing any instances of this EXE if it exists.

  2. Unregister the EXE. This removes the CLSID entry of the CDOLogin class in the registry. At a command prompt:

    [path to EXE]\cdohost /unregserver

  3. Clean up the registry. Launch the registry editor, regedit, and remove the following registry entries:

    - My Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\{67019193-530F-43D0-ACB9-636FB5C0AB3F}

    - My Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\CDOHOST.EXE

  4. Close the registry. This is important to allow for the registry to be refreshed the next time it is accessed.
